The AALS UK Chapter supports The Fred Hollows Foundation (UK).
Inspired by the work and example of the late Professor Fred Hollows, The Fred Hollows Foundation (UK) is a registered charity which seeks to eliminate avoidable blindness in developing countries. The Foundation was established in the United Kingdom in 1999 with a vision of a world where no one is needlessly blind. It uses a sustainable development approach to achieve its objectives. Every year millions of people in developing countries go blind due to lack of access to simple treatment, and millions more remain blind due to lack of access to simple surgery. Fred Hollows began working towards eliminating avoidable blindness in Australia, his inspiration has now spread to the UK and the AALS UK Chapter is proud to support his legacy over here.
